HOMETOWN is a temporary public artwork that took place in the spring of 2022. It investigates how public and social space are shaped along the emergence of new collective memories. The project is a collective interplay between several components, which alludes to people's alienation and belonging towards the notion of hometown and public space. HOMETOWN consists of three permanent sculptural elements, a light sign that paraphrases Stockholm’s oldest advertising sign, Stomatolskylten, both in appearance and as a commercial desire. An architectural model that portrays the site's current shape and appearance. A sculpture replicating the now defunct Metro's newspaper stand, which until 2019 was located at bus stops and subway entrances around Stockholm. The sculpture is used as a distribution channel about the events unfolding during the projects period. The project also includes a curated program consisting of the film screening HOMESICK BLUES, the group exhibition Storyteller, world maker and the performance walk DETOURS.
